Tonight! Boston Post Mortem: Scott Macmillan on the ‘Death of an Indie Studio’

July 13, 2011
7:00 pmto10:00 pm

This month’s Boston Post Mortem will be this Wednesday, July 13th at The Skellig in Waltham. Our guest speaker this month will be Scott Macmillan, who will be giving a post mortem of his company, Macguffin Games, in ‘Death of an Indie Studio’:

Last December, Boston area indie studio Macguffin Games closed its doors. In three years, Scott Macmillan took the studio from a one-man shop to a 4-person startup with paid employees, launched two games (one of them for Facebook), and then finally shut the whole thing down with no regrets. At this talk, he’ll discuss the big lessons he learned, what worked and what didn’t, and take lots of questions from the audience.

Boston Unity Group is holding its next bi-monthly gathering on July 26th! Come talk about Unity game development with your peers.

They’ll be diverging from the notion of a single speaker and holding several microtalks on various topics. These should be informal, short and about any topic that would be relevant to the group such as a demo of a WIP project, showcasing a new technology or development methodology, raising an interesting topic for roundtable discussion, or something else entirely!

In order to suggest or give a microtalk, visit their Facebook page ( http://facebook.com/bostonunitygroup ) – there’s a discussion set up for this purpose! You can also email alex@owlchemylabs.com or elm@vermontdigitalarts.com to sign up for a spot.

We’ll be heading out (as always) after the main event for networking at CBC (Cambridge Brewing Company)
