On Saturday, April 24th starting at 9:00am, Great Eastern is hosting our second annual 3D Stimulus Day, this year it’s at CDIABU, Waltham, MA.

Our speakers this year include: Alex Schwartz (Technical Artist – Seven45 Studios), Dan Konieczka (Technical Director,  Vermont Digital Arts), Yuris Mangolds (Director of 3D, C2I Studios),  Gäel McGill (Harvard University’s Director of Molecular Visualization and President and CEO of Digizyme, Inc.) and Chad Moore ( Technical Art Director at Turbine, Inc and Co-founder at Rigging Mentor).

Topics include: Rigging in Maya, what it takes to be a technical artist at a game company, making molecular biovisualization movies, lighting and materials: concepts & theory, and Creating MAARS (Modulated Advanced Armed Robotic System).

Great Eastern Technology (www.get.com) is sponsoring, and morning snacks and lunch are provided.   If you have any gluten-free needs, please note this in your registration email and I will try to accomodate.

Because of Pax East, and other fun stuff going on, we’re changing our normal meeting day to Monday, and it’ll be Monday, April 5th at Great Eastern’s space in Salem, NH.

One of our illustrious co-founders, Matt Board, will be presenting his sculpting workflow in ZBrush, and give us some tips on how to get a good 3d print. We’ll have our ZCorp Z510 printer printing, and have lots of models for you to pass around…

NEDA Meeting: Jan. 26 iPhone Game Development w/ Yilmaz Kiymaz

HAPPY 2010 – Our kick-off meeting will be Tuesday, January 26th @ Mt. Ida College in Newton.  Yilmaz Kiymaz, game developer/technical artist extraordinaire will be doing an hour on Unity’s Art Workflow, and then an hour on Cinema 4D.  He’ll cover modeling/texturing/animation… the most interesting aspects of each application with regards to art production for iPhone games!

Jason Arnone from Harmonix will show us the work his art department did for the recent Beatles Rockband release…  (can you say Beatles Rockband giveaway?)

Yuris Mangolds from C2I Studios will be presenting their workflow that incorporates Craft Animations Director Studio…

It will be a great evening, at Mt. Ida in Newton, so plenty of free parking, some refreshments, bar, lots of sweet giveaways and a cool chance to get together…

NEDAG’s first meeting of the fall season will be at MIT, on Tuesday, September 29th.

A panel discussion will take place, with Brad Porter of Great Eastern moderating.  The discussion will focus on ‘JOBS IN 3D’.
